Moving away...
Despite my fondness of Tumblr and it’s ease of use, I’m not enjoying having multiple sites dotted here and there when I’ve got a perfectly good CMS sitting on my own server which gives me complete control over the content and how it’s displayed.
As a result, I’ve decided to start posting my photos on a new section on my existing website. This allows me to use my...

Kerri & Liam's wedding, 30th April 2011
Most of the world had been looking forward to the Royal Wedding but some of us were more excited about weddings on a more personal scale. The day after that massive shebang, one of Lu’s oldest friends (meaning known a long time) and her other half tied the knot and we were fortunate enough to be there.
These are a few of the shots I took…

Shibden Park, 24th April 2011
The second back-dated post of the day. Last weekend we were hit with some incredible weather so Lu, my brother and myself took the opportunity to sit in the sunshine and a bit of miniature golf.
A Sunday Stroll, 3rd April 2011
The first of a pair of posts I should have published a bit closer to the date I took the shots.
These were taken a few weeks ago whilst on a walk to visit my Mum. I had the option of two routes, roadside view or canalside. I think I chose wisely.
HuddsDigitals, April 2011
Today I attended the monthly meetup of creative types in the area. I only took a couple of shots and here they are…
Mark took quite a few shots (he came well prepared with a flash and triggers) so keep an eye out on his Flickr stream for them.

Leeds, 19th March 2011
While Luisa went to a wedding dress fitting, I spent some time wandering around various backstreets of Leeds with Michael, taking shots of buskers, buildings and signage.
Wedding invites
Luisa and I are getting hitched in September so right now we’re in the process of sending invites out to people. I’ve been dying to post these photos but wanted to wait until they started arriving on people’s doorsteps.

Leeds, 26th February 2011
After the previous days frivolities, we decided to have an easy afternoon wandering around Leeds followed by a spot of lunch at Chaophraya.
Just another Friday, 25th February 2011
We went out for some drinks for a friend’s birthday. I happened to have my Canon and 8mm fisheye handy so we put it to work. Some shots were taken by Luisa.
Dusk, 8th February
Managed to just catch this before the Sun disappeared for the night.
Charlotte's Jersey ice-cream Parlour, 6th February
On this particularly cold, wet and windy Sunday, we decided to turn our noses up at the weather and go on a wee trip to a local ice-cream parlour near Huddersfield with our friends Liz and Jonny.
It is surrounded by farmland in which they keep many animals including a bunch of Jersey cows. It’s the milk from these cows that goes on to make the amazing ice-cream. If you’re ever in the...

HuddsDigitals, January 2011
HuddsDigitals is an informal meet up for creative types who fancy chatting about anything and everything over a beer or three. Here are some shots from January’s meet up at Vox bar in Huddersfield.

New Adventures in Web Design, Nottingham
I went to Nottingham for the first conference hosted by Simon Collison. I didn’t take too many photos as I spent much of the time catching up with old friends as well as making new ones.

Some shots from Christmas 2010
Just a select few shots from the Christmas break. A little overdue but better late than never.
Drinks at Mr & Mrs Dower’s house
We had our Yorkshire Christmas a few days after the 25th. Before heading to my Mum’s house, we stopped by my CEO’s for some drinks.
Christmas dinner and drinks with my family
I only took a few shots at my Mum’s house but here...

Driving home for Christmas
Sorry to put Chris Rea in your heads but it seemed a fitting title, since we were actually driving home for Christmas when I took this shot.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Joel Meyerowitz by Colin Westerbeck
The last few months I’ve been growing more and more interested in photography. Not just the practical side but the rich history that goes with it. On my journey for knowledge I came across Joel Meyerowitz, a photographer based in New York. He is probably most well known for his work as a street photographer but also does lots of work using a large format camera.
I decided to grab a book of...

Christmas has begun
Christmas is awesome and the decorations go up early in our house.
The snow continues...
Yesterday brought more snow which, whilst I love snow in all it’s snowflakey goodness, made it difficult to shoot on my wanders through Halifax. This morning was a lot calmer so I managed to take more shots on my way to work (yet again).

Movember 30th
I made it all the way through November without shaving my top lip! It’s not as difficult as I thought it would be to be honest so will definitely be taking part again next year.
For the final day I decided to do a silly shot.
Walking in a Winter Wonderland
Well, sort of. Halifax isn’t exactly a wonderland. Anyway, here are some Wintery shots taken this morning on my customary walk from the train station to the coffee shop.
Dinner with friends ~ 28th November 2010
We headed over to our friends’ new place for a spot of food (which was bloody lovely) which included a small amount of alcohol and loads of laughs. A fine way to round off a weekend…
You know it's Christmas...

Day in a tattoo studio, 27th November
I’ve wanted a tattoo since my early teens but I’ve held off for many years because I didn’t want to choose an off the shelf design. I wanted something that was unique and meant something to me.
After lots of thought I decided to go for a family orientated design. I have many family members I wanted to include but due to the amount of space to work with, I had to choose only a...
Morning routine
Recently I’ve been getting into a routine of stopping off at a local coffee shop to warm up on my walk in to work. Whilst it does mean having to spend money every morning when I don’t really need to, it has been beneficial in giving me a bit of time to focus on bits and bobs I usually struggle to find motivation for.
Since I started, I’ve been getting on back into writing for my...
Hi, I'm Sam
I took some shots earlier to update my Movember page and I thought a couple of them were alright so I thought I’d share. The first shot is an outtake which I like purely because of the DOF. The second is the shot I used.
Wander through town
Every morning I take various routes though Halifax town centre. The days when Luisa catches the train from Halifax (which tends to be most), I tend to walk up through The Piece Hall en route to the coffee shop and this morning was no different, except I got out my camera and took a few shots.
Falling in love with 50mm (again)
Okay, that’s not a very accurate title. I’ve always loved my 50mm. After completing Project 50 I wanted to have a bit of a break from using the lens. This also coincided with me getting my hands on a new lens so I was able to see what possibilities there were with it.
The other day I decided to switch back to the nifty fifty and I couldn’t help but smile. I’d missed the...
Monday morning
Only six Mondays left this year. I started this one with an early hot chocolate then headed to another cafe for a sarnie. Snapped these while I was out and about.
Some new shots and some from the archive
This weekend I decided to take the camera out with me wherever I went in case I found something to shoot. I took a few shots out in Leeds as well as some from our wicked curry night on Sunday.

Halloween, 2010
My God-daughter’s birthday falls shortly after Halloween so she normally has a Halloween themed party. This year had a rocking cake and some cool costumes. I took loads of shots but I only want to have these two online.
Bradgate Park, 16th October 2010
Back in October, we spent a weekend in Leicester for Adrian’s Birthday. He took us to Bradgate Park for a bit of a walk and shooting session. We were there just in time to catch the last light of the day.
